We need ‘track and trace’ for education!

An open letter from Tassomai’s founder Murray Morrison to school leaders about the Government’s ‘catch-up’ tuition plan, and why direction and focus is essential for it to succeed.

Dear teachers and school leaders,

As news emerges that the government will fund a ‘catch-up’ operation in schools by means of extra private tuition, again it will fall to teachers and school leaders to think about the finer points of planning and accountability in order to make the most of this opportunity for our students.

I know that one-to-one tuition has the power to effect considerable change for students; I also know that, misdirected, or under-planned, it can be wasteful not only in terms of cash, but also time and opportunity.

This funding could make a big difference to those who need it - but it will have a far bigger impact if it’s directed and focused. Tassomai was built with the express purpose of improving student knowledge recall, directing intervention and, where possible, reducing the need for it.

If you are already using Tassomai in your school, or you are considering it for next year, you should know these key points:

  • Regular Tassomai practice will do most of the heavy lifting of basal knowledge reinforcement, reducing the need for tuition considerably, and allowing that tuition to focus on mastering the finer points.

  • The data we provide through diagnostic tools like the ‘dots grid’ and the Tree will allow you to quickly make decisions and get the most from your budget, ensuring students get the most from their lessons.

  • Our attainment tracking system will allow you to see how these interventions have been working and where more help is needed.

  • Tassomai is now a product that works in English, maths and science for KS3 and KS4 which can be used across all year groups for less than £5 per student annually.

  • We are on hand, at any time, to help you analyse the data and make recommendations - you can book a time with me whenever you want via this link - it’s all part of the service.

We take our partnership with schools seriously and we know Tassomai can play a huge role in raising attainment. I also know the pitfalls in tuition and want to see this intervention exercise be a success, not a sticking-plaster. We are here to help - so please get in touch if you would like to discuss any of the above.
