Extra Mai credits for the start of exam season

This weekend is Mai Weekend!

From Friday 10th to Sunday 12th May Tassomai will be increasing the number of ‘Mai credits’ for all students to give them the chance to try our new Mai Explains feature.

Students who get Tassomai through their school typically have 4 Mai credits per week – 2 of these are to ask our AI-powered tutor for help on a question, and 2 are to ask for explanations of answers when they’ve made an error on a quiz.

For this coming weekend, students will have 10 ‘Mai Helps’ credits and 20 ‘Mai Explains’ credits to give them a boost in their learning or help them with their revision.

‘Mai Explains’ is a newly added feature – you can read more about it and see examples here.

Students can keep track of the number of Mai credits they have left by looking at the ‘Maicon’ in the top right corner of their quizzes.

Frequently asked questions:

Q: How long will these extra credits last?

The extra credits will be available from 00.01 Friday 10th to Sunday 12th May but will disappear if they have not been used by 23.59 on Sunday evening. Students will go back to having 4 credits per week on Monday.

Q: Can students get more Mai credits?

Parents whose children get Tassomai through their schools can upgrade to ‘Mai Unlimited’ to give them on-demand access to Mai for just £3.99 per month. You can find out more about Mai Unlimited and how to upgrade here. N.B. If you’re a private subscribing family note that your subscription already includes unlimited access to Mai.

Q: Why is there usually a limit of 4 chats per week for school users?

There's a cost to Tassomai each time a learner interacts with Mai which we haven’t passed on to schools. In the case of our private subscribers this cost is easily covered by their monthly fees, however schools pay a much lower price per student and for this reason we’ve had to cap the number of interactions that school users have with Mai.

Q: What is Mai?

Mai is Tassomai’s AI-powered virtual tutor! You can find out more about Mai here.

Q: What sort of thing can a student ask Mai?

A: Anything! Students will see a couple of pre-prepared starter questions which they can choose to click on, or they can type their own question. Note that Mai can’t be taken too far off topic and will always try to steer students back to the subject on the quiz card.

Q: Can Mai be switched off?

A: Yes, students and their parents/guardians can choose to deactivate Mai through their account settings. Note parents need to access their dashboards if they wish to change settings.

Q: Do students, teachers or parents need to do anything to activate Mai?

A: No, the Tassomai team activate Mai for all students by default and from that point on, students see the Mai icon in the top right corner above their multiple choice quizzes. Clicking the Mai icon opens Mai within Tassomai.
