One of the great benefits of Tassomai is that it encourages students to learn independently, and take control of the learning process - this has been shown to help with metacognition, engagement and happiness. Teachers benefit from this too, as it makes their job more about giving feedback and delivering personalised instruction.

Student stats from the Tassomai dashboard

We now have a whole host of stats on the student dashboard that encourage learners to take control of the learning process and get the most out of Tassomai.

All these statistics can be viewed for the last 7 days, last 30 days or since the account was created (N.B. some graph data is only visible from 13/12/18).

In the bottom left hand corner of each tile the student can see the change between this week and last week (except progress, where they can see their total).

Accuracy

This shows the percentage of questions students have answered correctly in the selected time frame.
If students are answering questions with low accuracy it will be hard to make any progress.
Encourage students to focus on staying above a certain level of accuracy - looking up answers is fine - they’re still engaging with the content!

Daily Goals

This shows how many daily goals students have completed in the selected time frame.
Students should spread their work over the week - completing four or more Daily Goals per week helps get the most out of Tassomai’s algorithms.
If students are completing regular Daily Goals with decent accuracy then they are using Tassomai well.

Bonus Goals

This shows how many bonus goals students have completed in the selected time frame.
You can find “Bonus Goals” by clicking on “graph” in the bottom right of the Daily Goal tile.

Answers

This shows how many questions the student has answered in the selected time frame.
For low ability students, or students just getting started with Tassomai, “total questions” can be a good thing to focus on.
However students should prioritise correct questions, daily goals and accuracy - although any engagement is good engagement!

Correct

This shows how many correct answers the student has given in the selected time frame.
You can find “correct answers” by clicking on “graph” in the bottom right of the answers tile.
Daily Goals encourage students to spread their learning by forming good habits; correct questions show you the total amount of good work done.
This is a great metric to use for competitions - but keep an eye out for low accuracy!

XP

This shows how many experience points students have gained in the selected time frame.
XP allows students to gain levels.
XP and levels are mainly to drive Tassomai usage; we wouldn’t recommend teachers focus on them.

Progress

This shows how much progress students have gained in the selected time frame.
Progress represents how much content a student has completed.
If students are doing a lot of work, but not gaining much progress, it suggests their accuracy is poor or they are focussing on too few topics - encourage them to focus on accuracy and take the suggested quizzes.

Time

This shows how much active time students have spent on the site in the selected time frame.
This only counts time spent answering questions.
If a student’s accuracy is low, check how long they’re spending on the program to make sure students aren’t rushing.
