Tassomai wins an EdWard!

Tassomai is recognised for its engagement with UCL’s EDUCATE program and its understanding of research methods with an EdWARD.

27th June 2018, Bethnal Green, London: Tassomai has won one of the inaugural EdWARDS for its participation in UCL's EDUCATE program.  The EdWARDS were announced at the London Festival of Learning presented by Lord David Puttnam. Tassomai’s “Evidence Aware" EdWARD recognises that the company has successfully completed the EDUCATE programme and that the team have demonstrated a clear understanding of how to apply research methods.

Murray Morrison said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive this award and want to thank the EDUCATE team for their support and encouragement.  The program has helped us to put in place a company-wide research-first mindset that will ensure that all the projects we embark on have measurable efficacy and the benefit to the user at their core."

Based at the UCL Institute of Education, EDUCATE connects EdTech entrepreneurs, practitioners and researchers, and uses research to inspire the design of high-quality learning products and services. It helps companies like Tassomai to develop and create EdTech products that work.

The criteria used to gauge successful completion have been based on the company’s:

  • engagement – attending the majority of events on the EDUCATE learner journey, making use of the UCL LEAN platform, and engaging positively with the programme

  • progression – being able to reflect on progression, what has been learnt and how this has impacted on the approach to developing the business or product

  • outputs – developing a logic model or theory of change for the product or service and a research proposal with a clear research question that demonstrates and understanding of basic research concepts and that the company is ‘research ready’.
