3 New Subjects to Launch in September: History, Geography and Computer Science

We are excited to announce we are currently finalising new GCSE history, geography and computer science content! The new courses will be ready for schools to trial in September 2022.

These courses have been created by our content team with help from specialist teachers, who worked with us throughout the development process to discuss the specific needs of each of their subjects. Through working with these teachers and incorporating their views into the planning and writing stages of creating the new subjects, we are confident that these courses will benefit students and teachers alike.

Unlike science and maths, these new subjects have fewer edtech tools available to them, despite being content-heavy and lending themselves naturally to retrieval practice

The new subject material will cover required topics and specification points for KS4 students in England and Wales. The courses will be tailored to AQA, Edexcel and OCR to begin with, though we hope to expand this to cater for other exam boards in the future.

Teacher feedback

“It has been great to visit the Tassomai offices, meet the team and be a part of the development of the geography course. The team at Tassomai are putting a lot of effort into ensuring that they pitch the content at the right level for all students across the different geography specifications.”

"A great way to tailor the learning and retrieval for students as it is designed to adapt to the students needs and also push them onto that next level."

"A computer science app where actual teachers have had an input! Shaping the questions, keeping it up to date and making sure it is fit for purpose."

“As it is a content-heavy subject, Tassomai is a great way for geography teachers to select previously taught topics they would like students to include in their independent study and the teacher platform allows easy tracking of their progress.”

How to access the courses

These new subjects will be available for schools that currently use Tassomai to trial for FREE from September for at least one full term as we are keen to gather feedback from our teacher community.

If you or any of your colleagues in the history, geography and computer science departments are interested in being part of this trial, the individual subject pages below include a form to register interest:

We’ll be sharing more details about the new GCSE content in the run up to the 2022/23 academic year, but in the meantime we have tried to answer some of the questions you may have below. If you would like to ask us anything else, please do get in touch.

FAQs

Q. How can we find out more about the new subjects?

A. The new subjects all have their own dedicated website pages, which you can access here: geography, history and computer science.

Q. How will Daily Goals work with multiple subjects? Will there be a separate Daily Goal for each subject?

A. We already have multiple subjects available for KS3 and KS4, so the new content will work in the same way as science, maths and English. Students will have separate Daily Goals for each subject and the Teacher Dashboard will enable teachers in different departments to monitor and manage their individual subjects.

Q. Will there be Tassomai tutorial videos for the new content?

A. Not at first, but we intend to create more tutorial videos for history, geography and computer science over the next academic year.

Q. How much will it cost for schools to add the new subjects to their Tassomai package?

A. For 2022/23, these subjects will be available to any Tassomai using school that wants to trial the content for free from September until at least January.

Q. If I renew or purchase now, how will I know when I can get new subject classes set up?

A. We will contact you in September once the content is ready to go and ask you to send us over your class structures for history, geography and computer science.

Q. I’m a private subscriber to Tassomai, can my child access the new subjects?

A. We are launching the trial in September for schools so that we can collect feedback from teachers. Our intention is to roll out access for private subscribers early in 2023.
